The draws for the 2019 African Cup of Nations held last night near the pyramids of Giza in Egypt.
This year’s tournament is the biggest ever with 24 teams up from the 16 teams of previous AFCON tournaments. The 2019 AFCON will hold from June 21 to July 19. a departure from the past when the tournament held in January/February. The 32nd AFCON will for the first time hold during Europe’s summer when African professional footballers playing football in Europe will be on summer break.
Nigeria seems to be in an easy group, drawn in Group B with Burundi, Guinea and Magdagascar. South Africa on the other hand has a tough task to hurdle pass Morocco, Ivory Coast and Namibia in Group D.
