Breaking News: Buhari appoints another Northerner Adamu Mohammed as new Inspector General of Police

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Adamu Mohammed  as the new Inspector General of Police, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He replaces retired former IGP Ibrahim Idris of Nigeria’s number one cop.

AIG Adamu Mohammed was serving as Assistant Inspector General, Zone 5 Benin as well as a Director in NIPPS Jos.

Before this appointment, there were speculations that President Buhari will appoint a new IGP from the South East or South West to balance the lopsided nature of appointments in Nigeria’s security architecture.

Pres. Buhari in defying critics chose another northetn muslim to head the Nigerian police force replacing outgoing Ibrahim Idris who will on Tuesday, January 15, turn 60 years, the mandatory retirement age in Nigeria’s civil service.
