A teenager in Ohio has died after she was shot by her boyfriend, authorities say.
The teenage girl LaShonda Childs, 17, was driven to a hospital in Dayton in southwestern Ohio on Tuesday after she was shot but died soon after arriving around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
Dayton police arrested Child’s ex-boyfriend Trendell Goodwin, 28 on Tuesday in connection with the shooting.
It turns out Ms. Childs made a 911 call prior to the shooting to report violation of an alleged protection order by Trendell Goodwin.
LaShonda’s mother, Nina Childs, said Goodwin and LaShonda started dating last September but broke up shortly after LaShonda realized Goodwin was not 20 as he initially told her. Theteafter, Goodwin started showing concerning behaviour. She said Goodwin would steal LaShonda’s phones and harass LaShonda and her family.
Childs’ mother, Nina Childs, said that Goodwin would repeatedly call LaShonda and her family.
“He would call you 70 times a day,” Nina said. “You would think your number was on speed dial. Re-dial.”
Nina also said that Goodwin would threaten LaShonda on Facebook.
“He had posted a lot of things on Facebook,” she said. “That he would kill her…that he would kill anyone that was with her.”
Meanwhile, a woman who spoke to News Center 7’s Sean Cudahy and asked not to be named has said that said that she was victimized by Goodwin years ago after they became friends. She said he wanted a romantic relationship with her even though she was not interested.
“It was beyond a nightmare,” she said. “He followed me home to find out where I lived at. He beat me up.
The woman said that Goodwin called her constantly and tried to hack her into her Facebook page.
He was found guilty of assault in 2016 and ordered not to contact the victim again.
