No fewer than eight persons were killed in Plateau state on Wednesday 29th, August as attackers invade Barkin Ladi. The victims included a pastor and his wife and three children. Ninety-five houses were burnt after unknown gunmen invaded Abonong and Zayit communities in Foron District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau yesterday.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, Terna Tyopev, said the attackers hit the community in the early hours of Wednesday and also carted away about three hundred and ten cows. ´´when we received information that Abonong and Zayit communities were being attacked, we quickly mobilised and rushed to the affected areas. But when we approached the areas, the attackers sighted us and took to their heels. When we eventually entered the attacked settlements, we found that eight persons were killed, ninety-five houses burnt while three hundred cows were stolen he said’’.
Tyopev said that the bandits also stole foodstuffs and destroyed properties worth millions of naira. He added that security have beefed up the area to forestall further attacks.
A relative of the deceased family who was a pastor, killed along with his family took to his facebook page to lament his death, he also called on the government to intervene.
