The Director General of the Department of State Security, Lawal Daura was today fired by the Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo for breach of national security after he autorised the sending of heavily armed masked agents to prevent proceedings of the National Assembly today.
While this move by vice president Yemi Osinbajo should be applauded, it would be unwise to read between the lines.
The move by the VP was only meant to whip up public sentiments against the Senate President Bukola Saraki after the DSS failed in its attempt to aid the impeachment of the Senate President.
While the DG is said to have been sacked by 4 am today, how could he have ordered the invasion of the National Assembly by 6.am?
Mr. Daura is only being used as a sacrificial lamb to change the narrative after he failed to deliver Ahmed Lawal as the substantive Senate President.
He is being accused of working for Senate President Bukola Saraki and is presently in the custody of the Nigerian Police Special Anti Robbery Squad SARS.
