The Ugandan Police have swung into action following reports that ASP Musa Kayongo, the Kyotera District Police Commander, allegedly lost his service pistol to thugs.

According to Lameck Kigozi, the Masaka Regional Police spokesperson, the police has lost four guns under a space of one month hence the matter has been referred to the Police Standards Unit (PSU) for investigation. Also two officers have been arrested and charged for negligence following the loss of their weapons.
ASP Musa Kayongo repotedly lost his handgun on July, 6, 2018 at Bwasa village in Kalisizo Town council following an attack by two armed thugs who wore military uniforms and claiming to be Special Forces Unit operatives. They are said to have persuaded the ASP to surrender his gun to help them in an operation. After Kayongo surrendered his weapon, the impersonators disappeared.
Officers of the Flying Unit have been assigned to trace and recover the four missing guns including the one stolen from Joseph Ssentongo, attached to Rakai Police Station, Kayongo (Kyotera DPC), from a SWAT Securico officer in Kyazanga, Lwengo and another from a guard who was shot and killed in Masaka.
