The final hosted in Moscow was very memorable with many historic moments to take home.

This World Cup final had the first VAR assisted goal, first own goal, a comic goalkeeper error,Mbappe becoming the second teenager to score in a World Cup Final after Pele, coach Didier Deschamps became the third person to ever win the FIFA World Cup as both a player and coach. The French tactician joins joins Mario Zagallo and Franz Beckenbauer.

Also,  Paul Pogba became the first Manchester United player to ever score a goal in a World Cup final. The player put his side ahead 3-1 with his 59th minute goal After Griezmann converted a penalty in the 38th minute and Mario Mandzukic’s own goal in the 18th minute.

The Croatian side never relented. They played with their hearts. After Mandzukic’s own goal, the side troubled the defence of the French side.  They got the equalizer in the 28th minute through Perisic’s memorable strike but Grizman’s penalty after the referee consulted the VAR put Les Bleus ahead 2-1 at half time.

Pogba put his side further ahead 3-1 while Mbappe sealed the victory but goalkeeper Hugo Lloris couldn’t hold onto the ball and Mandzukic was gifted a goal. This brought back hopes alive for the Croatians who were trailing behind 4-2 but the next goal never came until the final whistle was blown. France got away with a comfortable win over the Croatians 20 years after their first World Cup in 1998.
