- Nigeria lost 2-1 to Argentina and narrowly missed qualifying for round 16 in the World Cup but second choice goal keeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa couldn’t resist the pleasure of owning an original Messi “number 10” jersey.
- Was Ezenwa’s action appropriate following his country’s loss to Argentina?
After Nigeria’s 2-1 defeat to Argentina at the last round of Group D matches in the 2018 FIFA World Cup, second choice goal keeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa requested for Lionel Messi’s jersey.
The Nigerian goallie who never got a chance at the goal posts before Nigeria’s crashing out of the tournament, waited for Lionel Messi at the tunnel and asked the Argentine superstar for his number 10 jersey. Messi obliged him. He simply pulled off his jersey and handed it over to the excited goalkeeper.
Ezenwa, 29 who plays for Enyimba FC of Aba lost his spot to the young lad, Francis Ozoho.
Although his team lost out of qualifying for round 16 at the ongoing FIFA World Cup, he will definitely be heading home a happy man after getting a highly rated souvenir.
