The new Super eagles jersey designed by US dress makers, Nike sold out in 3 million pieces in 3 minutes.
The new kits appear to have received some warm reception among foreigners who thronged the Nike stores in UK to buy out the jerseys.
Super eagles home jersey costs N41,000 while the track suite costs a whopping N70,000. The seeing daunting prize seems not to have swayed football fans who couldn’t resist the beautifully designed kits.
Although the reception for the jerseys have created quite a buzz, a few hope this will translate into a superb performance for the super eagles at the world cup. Speaking to Raypower FM’s Bimbo, Super Eagles image maker Oluwatoyin Ibitoye said the team is deeply inspired by the growing enthisiasm about the jerseys adding that the team is ready to go all out to win the world cup.
Nigerian Senator, Ben Murray-Bruce however decried the opportunity lost in empowering local dress manufacturers in Nigeria. He said that if the Super Eagles’ jerseys were produced in Aba, local dress makers would have gained from the sales, adding that it could have created emoluments albeit temporal.
