Opening of US embassy in Jerusalem sparks bloody protests leading to 58 deaths and over 1,200 injured

The United States of America on Monday May 14 officially moved it’s embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. This sparked outrage among the Palestinians who led violent protests near the Israeli border in Gaza.

58 people were killed by Israeli snipers and about 1,200 were injured.

Israel accuse the rioters of attempting to breach the fence.

The  Israeli soldiers were following orders to prevent Palestinians from crossing into Israel at any price, including using live shots. Israel has  warned Hamas that a mass breakthrough will result in airstrikes on the group’s infrastructure inside Gaza Strip.

The casualties recorded are the deadliest since 2014.
