Today civil society organizations in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital took to the streets to protest en mass against the gathering of soot in the garden city.
Soot is a black or dark brown particle of amorphous carbon and tar, produced by the incomplete combustion of coal or crude oil.
It is dangerous to the environment and poured the air we breath. The rivers state government is accusing the federal government of deliberately neglecting Rivers state and delaying the clean up of the environment to cause a reduction in the population of the state.
