King of Africa’s last absolute monarchy, Swaziland has changed the name of his country to the Kingdom of eSwatini.
King Mswati III announced the change as the country marks 50 years of independence from British rule.
The new name eSwatini means “place of the Swazi”, in the Swazi language .
eSwatini is a landlocked state between South Africa and Mozambique. The Kingdom did not change its name after gaining independence in from Britain 1968.
