Fulani herdsmen attacked last night in Tse-Avule, Ayilamo, Tombo in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to reports, 4 police officers were killed, while 11 others are still missing. Some houses including two mobile police vans deployed to quell the crisis have been burned by the rampaging herdsmen.
In a statement confirming the incident, the Force Public Relations Officer Moses Yamu, said:
“Sadly, at the moment, four casualties have been suffered by the police. Additional reinforcement (including the air asset of the police) deployed by the inspector-general of police is in pursuit of the murderous gang. They shall definitely be apprehended with their weapons of destruction and made to face the full wrath of the law.”
This comes after the military withdrew it’s men from Benue State.
Recall that on Friday, president Buhari blamed the herdsmen crisis in the dead Libyan leader, Gaddafi, stating that his cache of arms fell into the wrong hands after the fall of his regime in 2011, This he claims lead to the crisis in the West African region including the increased Fulani herdsmen attacks in Nigeria.
