Authorities in israel have welcomed remarks made by a Saudi Arabia mufti proclaiming Hamas a terrorist organization
“We congratulate Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh, the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, as well as the head of Ulema (Islamic scholars) for his fatwa forbidding the fight against the Jews and forbidding to kill them,” Israeli Communications Minister Ayoub Kara said via his Twitter account.
While welcoming Abdul Aziz’s remarks in which he considered Hamas a terror organization, the minister added “I invite the mufti to visit Israel; he will be welcomed with a high level of respect.”
Mufti Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh had said earlier while answering a question on a television program that the fight against Israel was wrong and saying Hamas was a “terror organization.” He said this while replying to a question about July’s outburst across the occupied West Bank when Israel shut downa highly respected Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The State of Israel occupied the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, during the 1967 Arab-Israeli War and annexed the entire city in 1980, claiming it as it’s “undivided and eternal capital.”
