Rihanna is helping girls get to school in Malawi with bikes

American music star, Rihanna has extended her philanthropy towards helping girls in Malawi get to school in an education campaign called 1 Km Action.

She is partnering with Chinese bike-sharing company Ofo through her Clara Lionel Foundation which will fund scholarships for girls in Malawi through the foundation’s Global Scholarship Program, and donate bikes to students who need transportation to classes.

In a statement about the patnership that will run for five years, Rihanna said: “I’m so happy about the Clara Lionel Foundation’s new partnership with Ofo because it will help so many young people around the world receive a quality education, and also help the young girls of Malawi get to school safely, cutting down those very long walks they make.”

The  singer has also provided scholarships to U.S. universities for students in  Brazil, Barbados, China, Cuba, Grenada, Haiti, Guyana and Jamaica.
