The Federal Government of Nigeria has taken the fight against corruption to a whole new level. The FG announced the approval of a five percent (5%) reward of recovered loot to any whistle blower who provides useful information leading to the recovery looted  funds.

This policy  was made public by Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, when she briefed State House correspondents on the outcome of the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday.

This Whistle Blowing policy, she said was aimed at consolidating the ongoing war against corruption in Nigeria.

She further stated that a bill will be forwarded to the National Assembly in other to  solidify the policy.

Speaking on the protection of the identities of Whistle lowers, the Minster added that adequate measures were being put in place to protect the lives and identities of the Whistle Blowers.

“If you whistle-blow in public-spirit and in good faith, you will be protected.

“If you feel that you have been treated badly because of your report, you can file a formal complaint.

“If you have suffered harassment, intimidation or victimisation for sharing your concerns, restitution will be made for any loss suffered”, she stated.
