A splinter group from Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) known as Reformed Niger Delta Avengers (RNDA) has claimed that former President Goodluck Jonathan is the grand patron of the NDA.
The RNDA in a statement issued by its spokesman Cynthia Whyte, also named the sitting governor of RIvers State, Nyesom Wike and Seriaki Dickson of Bayelsa as co-sponsors of the militant organization that has destroyed oil pipelines and forced Nigeria’s oil production to an all time low..
The organization also named Senator Godswill Akpabio, the immediate past governor of Akwa Ibom State, ex-militant, Government Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, the fowner of African Independent Television (AIT), the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Kingsley Kuku, Kimi Angozi, and Patrick Akpobolokemi as other sponsors.
The splinter group also claimed that Chief Edwin K. Clark, Tony Uranta, Daniel Alabrah, Ms. Annkio Briggs, and Olisa Metuh, a former spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are also supporters of the NDA..
The RNDA equally named the operators of NDA as Oyege Nimi Brown, VIP Timothy, Joshua Macaiver, Paul Bebenimibo and Udengs Eradiri, the president of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), also known as Brigadier General Murdoch Agbinibo, as the NDA’s chief spokesman.
A source close to former President Jonathan has however denied these claims saying there is “no iota of truth to the claim that former President Goodluck Jonathan has a hand in the violence in the Niger Delta.”
The source who preferred to remain anonymous futher explained that “If former President Jonathan wanted chaos in Nigeria and the Niger Delta, he would have refused to concede the election to General Buhari and the APC,”
