Former Nigeria Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi is dead


Nigerian ex international and former Super Eagles coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi has died. The former tactician died suddenly in the early hours of Wednesday June 8 in Benin City, Edo state in Nigeria after suffering a heart attack.
Keshi, aged 54, was scheduled to return to the US on Wednesday evening before his death.
Stephen Keshi led Nigeria’s Super Eagles to a third Nations cup trophy in South Africa 2013 and to the round of 16 at the Brazil 2014 World Cup before he was sacked by the Nigeria Football Federation NFF.
He had lost his of 35 years, Kate Keshi in 2015 to cancer.
His death came as a shocker to many including his family members because he showed no signs of illness before his sudden death.
“He was not ill at all, never showed any signs of illness, but we suspect he never got over the death of his wife,” a close friend to the former coach said.
Stephen Keshi is survived by his aged mother and four children.
