Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has said that it will be difficult for the Bhari led administration to spend the funds being recovered from corrupt government officials.
The Vice President stated this in a media forum recognized to discuss the administration’s achievements in their first year in office.
He said that such proceeds of corruption cannot be utilised until the courts grant orders directing the forfeiture of those assets.
He said:The monies “are not ‘spendable’ monies until such a time when the court decides. But we intend to be as transparent as possible.”
“We have a line in the budget – N350billion – which we intend will be funded using recovered monies.”.
He further stated that the President Buhari-led administration is dedicated to “run a country where integrity is the rule and corruption is the exception.”
