Top government official in Bayelsa State caught trying to buy a baby


A top government official in Bayelsa State was arrested  by the police for attempting to buy a baby illegally.
The official identified as Dr. Wisdom Sawyer attempted to purchase a newborn baby for N200,000.
He was arrested after a 24 year old mother Nnenna Lawrence, who requested an abortion put forth a complain to the police.
Dr. Sawyer refused to perform the abortion but offered to buy the unborn child for N200,000 if she was a female or N250,000 if he was a male.
The doctor paid the mother a part of the money, N27,000 before the baby was born.
Upon delivery, Ms. Lawrence who could not let go of her sweet little baby boy, requested to take her baby but the doctor refused to release the baby to her. She now reported the matter to the police.
Speaking on the incident, toe Police spokesman in Bayelsa state Mr. Butswat said:

“On Thursday, at about 1000hrs, one Nnenna Lawrence of Igbogene community, reported to the police that she delivered a baby on the February 3, 2016 at Survival Hospital in Igbogene, Yenagoa. She stated that prior to the delivery, she had arranged with a doctor and a nurse to sell the baby to one woman, now at large, at the sum of two-hundred thousand naira,”
