Student bags a first class honours degree in a Nigerian University after failing 17 courses

A student of Psychology at the Benue State University Makurdi had become the first to bag a first class degree after failing 17 courses.


Agbo Odeh Hillary from Ohimini LGA in Benue State  was admitted to study Physics despite applying to study Medicine and Surgery. Frustrated by his situation, he had failed 17 courses in his 3rd year in the University, reports.
Hilary wrote the University Matriculation Examination JAMB UTME again and was readmitted to study Psychology while in his 4th year.
He graduated from the Department of Psychology with a record breaking 4.57 CGPA, becoming the best graduating student in the Department since inception of the University in 1992.
He also became the overall best graduating student of the 14th & 15th combined convocation of BSU held on 17th January 2015 and bagged seven academic awards including the Tony and Awele Elumelu price for excellence.
