Senator Buruji Kashamu who was the center of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation in Nigeria and the United States has been sacked from the Nigerian House of Assembly by an Electoral Tribunal sitting in Abeokuta, South West Nigeria.
The Tribunal nullified his election and ordered a re-run in 110 polling units.
Mr Kashamu was facing extradition to the United States for drug related offences by the NDLEA before he won the March 28 elections into the upper chambers of the National Assembly.
Mr Buruji Kashamu was indicted by a grand jury in the Northern District of Illinois for conspiracy to import and distribute heroin into the United States. His alleged nefarious activities became the inspiration behind the Netfllix hit TV series, ‘Orange Is The New Black.’
