Former governor of Jigawa state, Sule Lamido, who a federal high court sitting in Kano remanded in prison custody till September 28 is yet to come to terms with the fact that he is now a prisoner.
Sule Lamido and his two sons Aminu and Mustapha, were remanded in prison custody on Thursday by Justice Evelyn Anyadike over a 28-count charge of corruption and money laundering that amounted to the tune of N1.35billion (USD$ 6,785,626,500).
According to reports, immediately the governor and his sons were ushered into the waiting black maria,l waiting to take them to Kano central prison, Sule Lamido was heard screaming:
“You mean I am now a prisoner?”
The pleas by the defence council that the accused be placed in EFCC’s custody failed as the EFCC said they lacked facilities to accommodate the suspects till September 28.
